Won't I get banned for boosting hours?
No - there are no known VAC or account bans for hour idling, ever. VAC detects cheat software running with the game; idling never launches the game at all. Your account simply reports 'in-game' over Steam's own network protocol, the same state as sitting in a menu. Read our full breakdown on the Is It Safe page.
How does FreeSteamIdler work?
You link your Steam account, pick games from your library, and our servers keep your account marked as playing them 24/7. Nothing is installed on your machine and your PC can stay off. Playtime accrues exactly as if the games were running.
Is it really free?
Yes. Every account gets 100 hours of 24/7 boosting on one game, refilled every month - no card required. Paid packages from $0.99 add more hours and more simultaneous games, but the free tier never expires.
Can I play while my hours are boosting?
Absolutely. Auto-Stop detects when you launch a game yourself, pauses idling instantly so there's no session conflict, and resumes automatically when you log off. You'll never see a 'playing elsewhere' error mid-game.
Is my Steam account safe with you?
We never store your password. Logging in issues a refresh token, which we encrypt with AES-256-GCM using a per-user key before it touches the database. Steam Guard stays fully enabled on your account, and you can unlink and revoke access at any time from your Steam settings.
Do I need to download anything or keep my PC on?
No downloads, no scripts, no VM - everything runs on our servers. Set it up once from any browser (phone included) and your hours accumulate around the clock.
What payment methods do you accept?
Cards (via Stripe) and PayPal. Pay once for an hour package that never expires, or subscribe monthly for unlimited idling - subscriptions can be cancelled anytime from your billing page.
What's your refund policy?
Full refund within 24 hours of purchase if you haven't used any of the package's hours. After hours are consumed, packages are non-refundable. Details on the Refund Policy page.
Does it work with Family Shared games?
No - Steam only records playtime on the account that owns the license, and idling a shared library risks conflicts with the owner. We only idle games actually owned by your linked account.
